At Appetizers Unlimited we are all about simplifying your life and eliminating the stress that normally goes with planning a get-together by offering some great suggestions for make ahead appetizers for your party.
One of our favorite ideas (and always a party hit) for a quick easy appetizer to prepare in advance is Deviled Eggs. The secret to spicing up these party appetizers is to add a dash of curry or cayenne pepper to the filling.
Devilled Eggs are a wonderful party appetizer to make if you are on a budget. A dozen eggs yields 24 deviled eggs. Not only are they inexpensive, Deviled Eggs are one of the easiest finger appetizers to throw together in a hurry, and the required ingredients are staples in everyone's pantry.
Deviled Eggs
The day prior or the morning of your party, hard boil a dozen eggs.
Tip to hard boil eggs: Place your eggs in a pot and cover with enough cold water to cover. Bring the pot to a boil, turn heat off completely, and let the eggs stand in the boiling water for 10-12 minutes. Drain and cool eggs (if you are in a hurry, fill the empty pot of boiled eggs with cold water to cool quickly).
Peel eggs, cut each in half lengthwise, scoop out the yolk and place reserved yolk in separate bowl. Add enough mayonnaise to reserved yolks to make a creamy mixture (2-4 tblsp). Add 1/2-1 tsp curry powder or 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (we prefer curry), salt & pepper to taste, and mix well. Spoon or decoratively pipe the filling into the eggs white halves to make them look elegant, sprinkle with paprika, cover and refrigerate until serving.
There you go, quick easy make ahead appetizers for your party that fit within the budget and make your preparations almost effortless.
